turn and turn was a live listening event broadcast on Wednesday 10 June 2020, with new presentations from artists Helen McCrorie, Emmie McLuskey, Kimberley O’Neill and Katie Shannon.
Headphones are highly recommended.
Running order:
Helen McCrorie - We Are Formatives (10 mins)
Emmie McLuskey and Kimberley O’Neill - A feeling for the organism (16 mins)
Katie Shannon - Afternoon Bath (50 mins)
The group were all participants in Satellites Programme 2019, Collective's development programme for creative practitioners.
Emmie and Kimberley continue their collaboration to present a new audio piece built from their field recordings through a process of layering and exchange. Helen returns to her film If play is neither inside nor outside, where is it? to produce a new remixed soundscape from a world of children’s anarchic creative play and a military bunker turned data centre. Katie is combining her practice as an artist and DJ to produce a new mix-from-the-bathroom working with her Zoom recorder and contact mics.
On 11 June Emmie McLuskey will lead a follow-up online workshop, Background Noise, exploring sound as a subject and medium.
We're also delighted to announce a new poster edition produced collaboratively by the group. This new print was collectively developed to reflect on sharing cultures and consider different forms of collaboration and continuities across the group’s work and personal lives.
The poster edition will be available for free from Collective’s shop and selected partners once we are able to re-open our site. Keep an eye on our news feeds, but before then you can download the poster here as an unlimited digital edition.
We are currently accepting applications to Satellites Programme 2021. Find out more here. The deadline for applications is 30 June 2020.
