Collective is in an exposed location on top of Calton Hill and exploring the site does involve being outdoors, so please check the forecast and dress accordingly.
The Lookout by Gardener’s Cottage
The Lookout is our spectacular restaurant by the acclaimed Gardener’s Cottage. Open 10m—9.30pm Wed-Sun, pre-booking recommended – visit the restaurant page for more details.
The Kiosk by Gardener’s Cottage offers a range of takeaway drinks and light bites to enjoy in the grounds of Collective. Open daily 10am—5pm. Please note there is no indoor seating at the Kiosk.
Public toilets are located on the north side of Collective, beneath the Lookout restaurant. A 50p donation is requested. Disabled toilets are available in the City Observatory and The Hillside on request.
There is seating throughout the grounds of Collective for you to enjoy the views from. Limited seating is available inside the City Observatory. Folding stools are available in all of our exhibition spaces.
Due to lack of space there is no left luggage facility or cloakroom at Collective – if travelling with large bags please leave them at the Waverley station left luggage facility. Buggies are welcome inside the grounds and may be left at the entrances to exhibitions at your own risk.
Dogs are welcome inside the grounds and water is available at the Kiosk. Please do not bring dogs (except assistance dogs) inside the buildings.
We welcome photography for personal use at Collective. Please be considerate of other visitors when using your camera and don’t forget to tag Collective if sharing on social media. Professional photography, film and photoshoots are subject to a fee and not allowed unless approved in advance. Please email [email protected] two weeks in advance with your request. We consider the use of any equipment additional to a camera as professional.
