A sensory art walk on Calton Hill responding to the panorama and Edinburgh's cityscape
Join dance artist Alena Ageeva on a multisensory walk on Calton Hill responding to Barker’s Panorama and Edinburgh’s contemporary city scape.
This is a creative experimental journey unlike usual guided tours - the sensory art walk allows you to immerse in internal sensations. During the walk participants are invited to focus on the position of the body, sense of balance, tactile perception, light, and soundscape. Including somatic techniques and improvisation through movement, the walk will encourage participants to approach an embodied connection to their surroundings.
The workshop is designed to be inclusive for everyone - all levels are welcome, including beginners. Modifications are available, so you can adjust your participation depending on how comfortable and confident you feel. Please wear comfortable shoes and clothes, which you are happy to get messy!
The workshop will run 2-3.30pm, with optional time after to socialise with the group over teas and coffees.
This event is part of the Panorama programme, which takes inspiration from the origins of the panorama to explore how we see, move through and understand the city today.
