Produced as part of Paloma Proudfoot’s exhibition Glass Delusion, join us for a live performance of Layfigure, choreographed and performed by Aniela Piasecka with live music composed and played by Ailie Ormston. The performance, which will take place in the City Dome Gallery, was created in dialogue with Proudfoot’s articulated mannequin sculpture of the same title. A choreographic conversation emerges between Piasecka and the ceramic double, each movement both constrained and amplified by the creaking second body. This exploration of corporeal ambivalence extends to Piasecka’s use of gaze, vacillating between inward scrutiny and external focus.
The live score is adapted from Ormston’s new album, Impressions on and of guitar, and underpins this strange interaction, echoing the use of the ceramic sculpture in the act of playing guitar.

About the artists
Paloma Proudfoot is an artist who lives and works in London. Her practice combines sculpture, performance, and sound to explore the relationship between the human body and identity, as well as the gendered social histories that implicate it.
Proudfoot graduated from Edinburgh College of Art in 2014 and in 2016 participated with Aniela Piasecka in Platform, Edinburgh Art Festival’s emerging artist programme.

Aniela Piasecka is an artist who lives and works in Glasgow. Often working in collaborative capacities and with multidisciplinary modes of choreography, they view their practice as inherently relational and engaged with queer feminist phenomenology – to excavate sites of sensitivity in the bodies of performers and audiences alike. Recent research involves considering the choreography of pain, the interplay of risk and erotics in somatic experiences, and the questioning of ‘functions’ of the body.
Supported by Fluxus Arts Projects and Villa Arson Nice, Aniela is a Magnetic 4 Laureate. Past works have been presented with Bergen Kunsthall, Norway (2024); CAPC, Bordeaux (2022); Den Frie Centre of Contemporary Art and Dansehallerne, Copenhagen (2021); The Irish Museum of Modern Art, Dublin (2019); Cubitt Gallery, London (2018).
Ailie Ormston is a Scottish composer and musician making electronic music and music for ensembles. Ormston’s work often experiments with timbral abstraction, temporality, assemblage, and improvisation. They have worked collaboratively with Tim Fraser on It Changes (bison; 2022) and Finlay Clark on Sunflowers Face The Sun (33-33; 2020), as well as two solo releases: The Sedate/Tony Soprano Fashion Inspo. (50% PURE; 2018) and Frames that lean, pictures that roam (Akashic Records; 2025). Over the years, Ormston has received commissions from the likes of Counterflows, Tectonics, and the Barbican. In 2025, Ormston produced new works for prepared electric guitar and various speakers as part of a commission from OVER/AT (cic), which was then toured across North West Scotland in September. This music has recently been released as an album, Impressions on and of guitar, in March 2026. Ormston recently completed a residency with New York’s JACK Quartet – premiering a new piece of work for string quartet and tape in New York. Later in 2026, Ormston is curating a 3-night-residency at Cafe Oto, London.
