Edinburgh Art Festival's first Art Early event begins at Talbot Rice Gallery to explore Samson Young’s impossible musical instruments, colourful scores and, unruly compositions for imagined instruments. Participants will walk from Talbot Rice up to Collective, recording sounds along the way and imagining what music the city might make. At Collective, you’ll have refreshments and watch the video work of artist Helen McCrorie who documents the takeover of a derelict site for a children’s play space in If play is neither inside nor outside, then were is it? Taking inspiration from both exhibitions, you'll make mobile costume-sculptures in the beautiful surroundings of the gallery.
Suitable for adults and children of all ages.
Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult.
