Want to make your creative projects or arts information more accessible? Start here.
Make it Easy! is a hands-on workshop exploring the basics of Easy Read – a way of presenting information using simple words and pictures so that more people can understand it.
Over two hours, we’ll explore: what Easy Read is and who it’s for; why Easy Read matters in creative and community contexts; how you can start using Easy Read in your own work.
You’ll see real examples from the arts, take part in short practical activities, and have a go at turning information into Easy Read yourself. It’s a chance to find out more, ask questions, and leave with practical tools you can use in your work.
Who is it for?
This session is for artists, freelancers, and arts workers who want to make their communication more inclusive – whether that’s event information, workshop guides, call-outs, or exhibition text. It’s especially useful for anyone working with neurodivergent or learning-disabled people, people with literacy challenges, or those who use English as a second language.
Access information
The workshop will take place online via Zoom. Joining instructions will be shared in advance of the event.

About Door in the Wall Arts Access CIC
This event is organised by Door in the Wall Arts Access CIC.
Door in the Wall Arts Access CIC is a disabled-led social enterprise based in Scotland. We work to make the arts more inclusive by supporting organisations to remove barriers and by empowering disabled and neurodivergent artists through training, access resources, and peer support. Our flagship strand is Neuk Collective, a network of neurodivergent artists across Scotland who support one another to lead change in the arts.
About We Contain Multitudes
This event is part of Collective's programme for We Contain Multitudes – a collaborative project that seeks to create systemic change in the Scottish visual arts sector for disabled artists, arts professionals and audiences.
We Contain Multitudes is dedicated to helping arts organisations embed anti-ableist practices and build programmes that more accurately reflect the diversity of the Scottish population. It is a process of learning – one that acknowledges the ongoing challenges and recognises that access measures alone are not enough to dismantle ableism.
Running until February 2026, each partner will generate a new commission, alongside published research to support long-term change in the sector. DCA will present a group exhibition featuring new and existing works by Andrew Gannon, Daisy Lafarge, Jo Longhurst and Nnena Kalu, while LUX Scotland will support a new commission to be presented online. The first of these commissions launches with Shen Xin’s exhibition Highland Embassy at Collective.
We Contain Multitudes is a partnership between Collective, Dundee Contemporary Arts (DCA), and LUX Scotland, and is supported by the Paul Hamlyn Foundation.
