Join artists Katherine Fay Allan and Frieda Ford for a children’s workshop and procession that brings our gut feelings to life through costume, music, and play. Inspired by Katherine Fay Allan's monster named 'gastromancer', and featuring in her film GASTROMANCY currently on show at Collective, participating children will be encouraged to reflect on how they feel when they have a ‘gut feeling'.
Does your gut feeling have wings like butterflies?
Does it feel sharp and pointy like sticks?
Maybe it swirls around like a whirlpool?
With the support of Collective staff and their caregiver, participating children are invited to produce a costume that represents their own ‘gut feeling creature'. Each costume will consist of a mask and a choice of tail or wings to match. Led by the children’s imagination we will use a mixture of fabric, art materials, and craft supplies to bring each child's design to life. Once everyone has made their costumes, we will dress up as our own 'gut feeling creature' and set off on a short walk around the top of Calton Hill.
Ideal for ages 5 – 12.
Snacks and hot drinks will be provided.
Please dress for hilltop weather. Read access information about our site.
The event is free but ticketed. Recommended donation £5.
