Experience new ways of seeing and listening together at this audio described group screening of Shen Xin’s films, designed for visually impaired visitors and open to all.

Join us for an audio described shared screening of artist Shen Xin's two films, Solar Wheels (28 minutes) and bearing fruit of fondness (6 minutes), both part of their solo exhibition Highland Embassy at Collective.

This event is designed and led by artist Juliana Capes, and is suitable for visually impaired visitors. Its unique format and approach to engaging with the artworks may also appeal to a wider audience - everyone is welcome to join.

The event will involve repeated screenings of Shen Xin's films with the audio description reduced with each iteration.

About Highland Embassy

Highland Embassy by Shen Xin brings together three artworks or ‘stories’ from different highlands: the Isle of Skye, Scotland; British Columbia, Canada; and the Kham region of the Tibetan plateau. The mountainous and rural landscapes in the films and paintings act as backdrops to explore migration, belonging, and indigenous frameworks for languages and communities.

About Shen Xin

Shen Xin is an artist and filmmaker from Chengdu, China, who lives and works in the Isle of Skye, Scotland. Their practice encompasses moving image, installation, performance, sound, and text to explore socio-political and ecological narratives of belonging and migration.
