Method Maker was a week-long collective enquiry that considered different research methodologies and how they inform artistic production.
The programme looked at how artists can use different methodologies to observe, critique and develop new work. In the programme artists considered how research connects with other fields of study and encourages new developments. Methods considered included, but were not limited to: fieldwork, documentation, process, observation, collaboration and play.
Key questions to the week were: How do artists engage with different fields of study and research methodologies? What types of research can be useful to an art practice now? Can artists' practice influence wider knowledge production?
Workshops, screenings, walks, group readings and discussions were led by: Petra Bauer, Simon and Tom Bloor, Annie Fletcher, James N Hutchinson and Tessa Lynch plus invited guests including: Fiona Anderson, Rhona Warwick Paterson; and Godfrey Fitton. Method Maker was facilitated by Harry Weeks.
