This event, performed by the Edinburgh Junior Diving Club was part of the exhibition Commonwealth Suite, which featured two new films by Jordan Baseman and Henna-Riikka Halonen. This performance was part of Henna-Riikka's project.
Henna-Riikka Halonen filmed a re-interpretation of The Bathhouse, a 1930s Russian Constructivist play, which satirises state bureaucracy. Henna-Riikka used the parallels between the content, title and visual resemblance of The Bathhouse theatre set to the Royal Commonwealth Pool's diving platforms as a starting point for her commission. Edinburgh Junior Diving Club members performed as actors on the diving platform in her theatrical short film.
Mid-way through The Bathhouse the actors rebel and take control of the direction, this process was paralleled in Halonen's re-interpretation. In this one-off event, members of The Edinburgh Junior Diving Club will directed a performance at the Royal Commonwealth Diving Pool from 6—6.30pm, before the preview of the exhibition at the Collective.
