We are delighted to have received two architectural awards from RIBA National Award and RIAS Award in the Leisure, Culture and Ecclesiastical category for the redevelopment of the City Observatory, with Edinburgh City Council and our architects Collective Architecture.
In addition to the restoring the historic site and buildings, the redevelopment also included a new exhibition space, The Hillside, and our restaurant The Lookout by Gardeners Cottage.
Judges of the RIBA Award commented that Collective’s site was; “the result of a strong and highly successful collaboration between the two client bodies and the design team. A shared vision from the project’s outset has driven the design from inception to completion, producing a number of bold, contemporary interventions which successfully achieve a unifying functional coherence with the sensitively restored historic buildings on this site of national significance.”
Congratulations to the team at Collective Architecture; as well as all those involved in the redevelopment including; Contractor ESH Construction, Structural Engineer Elliot & Company Consulting Engineers and Malcom Fraser Architects.
